Great Toast, Great Looks May 27, 2006 R. MCMILLAN 75 out of 76 found this review helpful
I was a bit reluctant to part with so much money for a toaster.I'm sure that the last one I bought only cost a fiver, but that was a long tme ago! I kept returning to this model though, as it looked so good and the other family members agreed that it looked cool. Aesthetically it has not dissapointed. The toaster is well constructed, with sturdy dials and leavers. Of course the most important attribute of a toaster must be how it toasts. We have tried just about everything, bread of all types, muffins, crumpets, toasting croisants, scones and buns. All have toasted wonderfully. The smaller items are easily retrievable using the "high lift" leaver. The toasting is even and once the correct setting is chosen, perfect for each item. The toasted item is always warmed all the way through, not just cooked on the outside. I can particullarly recommend the toasting croisants! The reheating button also works really well. The reheated toast was warmed, but not cooked further. Altogether this toaster has lived up to, if not surpassed expectations. It has pride of position in our kitchen.
Nice-looking, excellent browning controls -- a good buy April 27, 2006 Gary (Leamington, England) 37 out of 39 found this review helpful
This is a nice-looking toaster -- adorns the kitchen in a sort of 50s retro way. Has a lovely smooth action, quite elegant in the way it pops up -- the toast not so much pops as emerges. The browning control is the best I've ever had (ie doesn't go from white to black in .0001 of a nanometer turn) -- you get a really responsive control that genuinely gives you grades of browning as you move from 1-5. Takes hot cross buns very nicely. The only downside is the slot length -- if you have big bread slices (eg from a breadmaker) you'll need to cut them in half or trim them before they'll fit. I was disappointed by this at first, but now I've got used to it the good features far outweigh this, which doesn't bother me now. The warm-again feature is good: I've used it already. Separate operation (with separate controls) for two/two is also very good. Overall: a very nice toaster -- glad I bought it.
NB. I've had it two years now (2008) and it's all gone a bit pear-shaped I'm afraid. Only one side toasts properly now, and the browning control now only takes up to mid-brown.
Yummy toaster February 13, 2006 Fiona Mac 40 out of 43 found this review helpful
Look, it's a toaster, OK? It toasts bread. It does it perfectly adequetly, even very nicely. But let's keep it real. There is only so much you can say about a toaster. Tho' the re-heat facility is very useful if you have kids who put toast on and then go and get engrossed in something else...Anyway, my point is that , beyond toasting bread, there is only one reason to spend this much money on a toaster - assuming that you are as shallow as I am - and that is because it is ab-so-lut-ly beautiful. It's lovely. It looks fantastic in your kitchen. You get up every morning and you want to kiss it's so lovely. It is the most gorgeous toaster currently available. And that's all the reason you need, really. And now I'm going for a lie-down.
Toaster July 9, 2010 Mr. T. C. Mold I bought it and the natching kettle because its finish was "anti-fingerprint". And it is.
Stylish Toaster June 15, 2010 Mrs Cullen (Lancs UK) I bought this toaster as my old one had broken and I can't believe how much better this one is! Not only is it really stylish and looks fab in my kitchen but the slots are actually big enough so that it toasts the whole slice of bread without me having to turn it halfway through
